Beauty's Product RAVE: EO Holiday - Love, Peace, and Sleep.

Oh my god. Oh my GOD. Once in a while as a beauty blogger phenomenal things happen. I met the most amazing designer, Alexis Lamontagna, chatted with Angelina's mane man Ted Gibson, sat at Estee Lauder's desk, and (equally as amazing) EO just contacted ME.

A bit of hair-history: until a short sighted product manager at the Whole Foods in North Carolina stopped carrying EO, it was the ONLY thing I put in my hair for three years. In fact during my first visit to Warren Tricomi the health of my hair astounded the staff and all I had to say for myself was, "These locks have only touched organics since 2005. "

Note: if you are of blood relation to me and would like to be surprised at Christmas I recommend skipping to the next post right now. The sometimes seductive sampler sets come in three packages, Love, Peace, and Nighty Night. Each includes a frothy bubble bath bundled with a combination of soy massage candles (I have never heard of a massage candle but knowing the healing powers of EO's scents, I'm purchasing one immediately) bath salts, room sprays and body lotions. Pick your passion below.

Pamper yourself or the one you love with the indulgent sensation of Pure Nourishing Rose. We captured the essence of real Rose by artfully blending hundreds of individual roses with healing Chamomile into this gift collection. The therapeutic benefits of these ingredients penetrate skin to nourish and hydrate the body naturally. Precious rose Essential Oils repair and harmonize even the most sensitive skin.

Beauty's Spa: San Francisco is Bliss

Here is what Bliss says about their hot salt scrub™ body treatment

Drives away dry and scaly skin. It's a right-on rubdown with our secret self-heating, sinus-clearing, mind-melting, rosemary, and eucalyptus oil dissolving sea-salt scrub blend.

Here is what I have to say about it: Mind-melting is an understatement. I was born again in the space of an hour inside a Vichy shower treatment room at Bliss's first West Coast outpost, Bliss San Francisco. Until today I was unaware that grown humans were in fact aloud to pay someone to bathe them. Now I think any life lived with out the experience of a full body rubdown followed by a carefully tended Vichy shower is incomplete.

First Karen, another angel employed as a massage therapist at Bliss SF, rubbed my body down in warm fragrant eucalyptus oil. I have enjoyed numerous hot oils in my years of day spa addiction however Bliss's Eucalyptus oil concoction is the only one truly worth of the term Aroma-therapy. Then she scrubbed my skin from toe to top with Bliss's Hot Salt Scrub until a new, smooth, silky epidermal layer appeared. In the past year of the beauty blogging bizarreness that has become my life, I have tried everything to treat my horrendous backne but have yet to kick it completely. If penny sized chunks of hot sea salt being rubbed against my body like hot wax on a car doesn't do the trick I'm investing in skin grafts. But I digress. After the Eucalyptus oil marinade and extremely thorough salt scrub Karen ran the Vichy shower over my entire body. Again, if you have never had a Vichy shower, please do. At this point, I was jelly in her hands and, save a few hand towels for a slight reference to modesty, I was in fact the image of a toddler in a baby bath - limp, unreasonably smiley, and for no good reason given my current helplessness, utterly happy. After carefully towel drying my newly buff bod Karen carefully massaged me with Bliss's new Blood Orange Body Butter.

Yesterday I was a mountain woman who spent two days in a rustic Yosemite cabin (and by "cabin" I mean four planks of wood converging to form primitive shelter) in the name of familial bonding. I arrived in SF un-showered, fresh out of hippie-filled hot springs, and seriously wearing NO makeup. So un beauty editor like. I would do it over ad infinitum however to visit my mountain-top living, spiritually stunning, rock climbing, earth muffin cousin who I adore but I would also have to visit bliss repeatedly to recover. If you think there isn't a Bliss near you, check again they are expanding from Doha to Hoboken. Also I know times are tough. No worries you can have the exact same experience I did at home, minus Karen and the Vichy.

Beauty's Product: Diptyque Patchouli Candle

I had to laugh when I read this, "DIPTYQUE brings exclusivity back to Patchouli" No really? Cause all those dreaded hippies made it so available and appealing? But seriously I do adore a fine votive just as much, well probably more, than the next girl and patchouli's roots go back much further than the whole make love not war scene.

World-renowned for its refined and unique scents, Diptyque created a Patchouli candle which it will launch exclusively in four Saks Fifth Avenue stores from November 1, 2008 – January 15, 2009. The candle will then be available at all Diptyque retailers as a new edition to the line in 2009.

An earthy fragrance, the Diptyque Patchouli candle features notes of cedar, moss, sandalwood, vanilla, white musk and of course, patchouli. Although the scent of Patchouli is often reminiscent of the American 1960s and 1970s, Patchouli was popularized in the 19th century as the fragrance used to scent fabrics manufactured in India and China for export to Europe. This association with luxurious eastern goods is why patchouli was considered by Europeans of that era to be a lavish and privileged scent. It is even rumored that Patchouli was used in the linen chests of Queen Victoria.

“We wanted to create a candle that was beautifully fragranced and evoked emotion,” says Andrew Sedlock, Diptyque’s Managing Director. “The inspiration stems from when the scent of Patchouli was associated with opulence and extravagance.”

Beginning November 1, 2008, the Diptyque Patchouli candle will retail for $60 and will be available at Saks Fifth Avenues located in the following cities: New York City; Boston, MA; Greenwich, CT; and South Coast Plaza, CA. After January 15, 2009, Patchouli will be available at Diptyque retailers nationwide.

Beauty's Product: Shadow Shields - What LC and Kristen Have in Common, Besides Brody and Stephen.

If LC swears by them, I'll bite. Seriously her eye makeup always looks perfect and if she and Kristen can agree on these ingenious new eyeshadow-for-dummies Shadow Shields, who am I to disagree? Shadow Shields were created by Southern California make up artist Michelle Villanueva and in addition to LC and Kristen, the great Kat Von D herself, Audrina Patridge, Whitney Port, Rihanna, Lisa Rinna, and Sharon Stone all swear by them.

Basically, Shadow Shields are a dependable solution for eliminating messy raccoon eyes and are giving women the confidence they need to apply eye makeup, while making the job of an artist a little easier! "… A product that makes doing a smoky-eye fool proof. Shadow Shields have filled a much-needed void in the beauty industry and are a must-have for everyone's makeup bag!" - says Shannon Levy, owner The Beauty Closet. Truthfully most women I know who don't wear makeup truly at some point would like to they just feel its too late to start now or that they don't know how. Now the perfect smokey eye is for everyone.

$ / AVAIL AT: $16.95 for 50 Shadow Shields, now available in stores in Los Angeles, Hollywood and Orange County, California; as well as New York; Dallas, Texas; Wichita, Kansas; Birmingham, Alabama and Canada or you can order them here.

Beauty's Product RAVE: Evian Brumisateur Facial Spray

When I received this unassuming metallic Evian bottle in my NY Fashion Week press bag I had no idea it would become my most favorite travel product. In New York, the instant benefits of the Evian Brumisateur, allowed it VIP access at all of New York's hottest Fashion Week shows, guaranteeing the models a flawless final look before their pass down the runway. But it's not just for models. I recommend it for an instant pick me up, anytime, anywhere.

The Evian Brumisateur is nature's solution for glamorous looking skin based on Evian's balanced mineral composition and remarkable purity - the result of a slow natural filtration process, a journey of at least 15 years through the French Alps. This unique mineral composition tones and moisturizes the skin, increasing skin hydration by 16% with regular use and providing better penetration of make-up products due to these same minerals.

To receive the full benefits of the Evian Brumisateur when applying make-up, just follow these simple steps:

1. Clean: After washing/cleansing the face, generously spray Evian over the entire face until it actually drips, wait a minute for the droplets to be absorbed and then pat the excess dry. Follow with your regular moisturizer to "seal in" the hydration.

2. Make-up: Apply make-up as normal.

3. Set: Holding the Evian canister further from the face, mist lightly in a circular motion one final time to set make-up in place and let air dry. Setting makeup helps it blend with the skin and gives it a more natural look. It also brings out more color.

4. Repeat: Repeating throughout the day keeps skin hydrated, refreshed, and looking its best.

Re-live the glamour of Fashion Week or simply enjoy a $10 long lasting pick me up in the name of skin care here. I adore the special edition bottle below.

Guest Blogger Rave: Jules and her Claudio Riaz Make Up Brushes

For those of you who have met Jules, she needs no introduction. For the rest of you, this San Fran born and bred wild child is always in the know about well, everything. Since she has a knack for beauty product trend prediction I have been attempting to get her to start her own beauty blog. Alas, I settle for this guest post. Ladies, welcome Jules.

This past Saturday, I met the man of my dreams. I met him in Barney’s and he completely won me over with his Instant Smoke Brush. Actually, all of his make up brushes took my heart by storm and I was instantly his.

As a self professed product junkie, I learned at a young age you cannot do the right make-up look without the right tools. In fact, you can’t do any look without them. Claudio Riaz has perfected the brush so even the tomboy next door can transform herself into a goddess. He transformed my friend’s eyes in about 5 minutes with 3 simple brushes: Instant Liner Brush, Instant Smoke Brush, and the Brow Brush.

The Instant Smoke Brush is perfect to dip in any shadow and sweep across your lid. Voila! Your eyes are sexy & flawless! This used to take me about 15 minutes with about 3 brushes and 3 different eye shadows. It works great over eye-liner or alone. Of Course, the Instant Smoke Brush is patent-pending and made of pure sable.

After meeting him and seeing what he can do, I fell in love and took home his Instant Smoke Brush. I never thought the man of my dreams would be able to create sexy flawless eyes in a flash!!

Your Daily Pink

Yesterday Amber today Erika and Anne. Seriously all three of them would make it into my top five picks for fav beauty bloggers. But I'd hate to have to choose only five because there are so many amazing girls out there. These three however are the Cindy, Naomi, and Claudia of the beauty blogging world. So check out Erika's Makeup Bag for over $250 worth of beauty products and Anne's Jet Set girls for the same amount in Sleepy Heads products. As always entry is free but please use the Beauty's SPOT paypall button to donate to the BCRF. Look, Evelyn Lauder herself got all dressed up in pink today just to ask for you generous donations.

Vogue Chic Sheet

Introducing a new column here at the SPOT - Chic Sheet. It's like spark notes but for the beauty obsessed. For the inaugural Chic-Sheet I present this month's Vogue -Andre -fashion. In other words, here's what beauty girls got from Vogue this month.

At 40 Naomi Watts is charged with being the face of the only branch of Thierry Mugler's empire in which he still has a hand, fragrance. Although his line ascended the heights of fashion mountain back when bangs were big it has revamped itself without him while he designs costumes in Vegas. (And isn't that where 80's fashion belongs - Vegas?) Anywho Naomi's first bit as Angel does more than justice to one of the world's best selling fragrances.

Henry Matisse procreated. So did the Moet Hennessy clan. Their progeny smell fabulous via MoMA worthy, earth-friendly, refillable packaging. For a cool $1500 your Kilian (Hensesy Wunderkind) Perfume can reside in a Sophie Matisse original. Pick your scent at Kilian.

In Greece sap is called Mastiha. In New York you can buy anything and everything with this Mediterranean nostrum at the Mastihashop outpost. The rest of us American saps can buy the Greek beauty goods online. Korres included.

Beauty's Product: Shecky's Honors Biologique Recherche's BioMask

Who knew that Shecky's, purveyor of girls night merriment everywhere, also had a beauty channel? Who knew that they also gave awards? Personally I had no idea but they caught my attention with their awardee for best mask, Biologique Recherche BioMagic Mask.Don't let the humble blue and white packaging fool you. This bio-marine, plankton packed mask is a favorite top spa estheticians nation-wide. I've barely entered a women's locker room in the last two months without a welcoming nod from the Biologique Recherche's prodigal product. Shecky's also awarded Biologique RechercheLotion P50V with the Wonder Product Award.

Beauty's Spa: Save Face, Save Money

Another reason I love the spa industry - it's run mostly by women who get that we need our treatments come hell or high inflation. For you, the loveliest beauty blog readers, I've compiled list of spectacular spa savings.

From Lifebooker:

50% off all haircuts at Salon Santa Cruz a Haircut (short), usually $75, is now $37.50

30% off all services at The Skin Spa a Bikini Wax, usually $35, is now $24.50

35% off all services at Jeunesse 'Spas for Life' a Deep Tissue Massage, usually $130, now $84.50

From Spa Week:

What: $50 full service spa treatments at over 600 spas across North America!

When: In the Mid-West and on the East Coast – October 13th-19th! Appointments fill up quick. You can book now.

Spa Week’s goal is to make “wellness” more than just a word--they intend to make it a reality - for women of all financial means. Spa Week proceeds benefits Cancer and Careers.

Bryon Williams, whose clients include Demi Moore, Kirsten Dunst, Nicole Richie, Joy Bryant and Jordana Brewster, predicts “eye shades in pink, lilac and deep purples will be making a big comeback. He uses Neutrogena Nourishing Eye Duos, a perfectly coordinated eye shadow duo that enhances eyes and conditions eyelids. The base shade contains natural soy, silk powder and Vitamins A, C, & E. The accent shade contains luminizing pearls to brighten eyes and add vibrancy. Both shadows are fade resistant and crease-proof, so eyes remain beautiful all day long.
